Formula Student Team of the club FH Köln Motorsport e.V.
The team of the in January established club FH Köln Motorsport e.V. participated for the first time on the Formula Student Event Germany 2007 midst of August and achieved Position 32 with its Formula Student car CC07.
Only students of different universities attend at the Formular Student Event. The intention is to design a single-seated formula racing car. Not the fasted car will win the competition, but the team with the best somplete package of design, racing performance, budgeting and sales arguments.
The intensive preparation lasting for months and the screwing for nights turned to account on the first days of the Formula Student Event 2007 at the Hockenheimring, Germany. The students of the club FH Köln Motorsport e.V. coped with its CC07 the first competitions glamorously like the first and second Scrutineering and the Style Presentation. Even the Noise, the Tilttable and the Braketest as well as the Static Event (Design Report, Real Case Situation, Cost Report and Business Plan) could be booked as successful, too. The CC07 appealed very well at the Dynamic Events. Although the primary shaft broke at the Autocross, the team managed it to remove, weld and install it again in record time, so that the vehicle drove - to the surprise of all - in 57.5 seconds through the lap. Due to the unexpected performance at the previous day the newcomer started from position 11 at the Endurance Competition. The title "Best Newcomer 2007" in the field of 60 vehicles seemed to be nearby. The technical commissioners gave their okay to the boiling over of the cooling system. Unfortunately the engine didn't start again after the technical inspection.
By now the team has identificated a lot of points which they will advance in the year 2008. The concept is currently in work. With the continuing GIF-sponsorship of the Formula Student Team it is possible to participate and to succeed at the Formula Student Event in the following years.
