On September 25th and 26th, 2008 GRC's (GIF Research Center) first Transmission Technology Forum took place in Suzhou, China according to the slogan "Impulse for Innovation". More than 120 international experts attended the congress to discuss the latest developments and trends.

On both days numerous lectures on current key subjects regarding research and development in the transmission and powertrain sector were held by well-known speakers. For instance presentations were given about the subjects "GIF Vehicle Evaluation System - Importance, Requirements, Procedures and Experience" of Dr. Heinz-Dieter Schneider, GIF mbH, and "CVT technology, mature with a wide application range" of Hein Siemerink, Bosch VDT. The technical exhibition which was organised simultaneously in the Kempinski Hotel proved to be a further element of the forum where GRC and other technology leaders like Continental and Miba presented their products and developments. As another highlight of the forum the topic "Driving Experience" showed up, which offered the live opportunity to test new developments around the vehicle on the GRC plant site. The first day of the event was rounded up by a gala dinner.

During his closing speech Ulrich Plewnia, General Manager of GIF Research Center, promised: "After the successful premiere of this years' Transmission Technology Forum, we again expect an interesting and exciting conference in 2009 with presentations on the latest developments and services."
