Sound Intensity

Sound mapping of a manual transmission
Compared to sound-pressure measurements, the possibility to measure sound intensity offers
various advantages when determining the sound capacity. These measurements can be carried
out without special acoustic chambers and steady background noise is filtered out. This
enables sound intensity measurements on any powertrain test bench.
Besides the easy handling of sound intensity measurements using the wipe method by means
of a manual sensor (EN ISO 9614-2), GIF can carry out measurements at discrete points
(EN ISO 9614-1) by using a portable robot with a 3D sensor.
Free selectable programmes scan the specimen and the exact repeat accuracy offers accurate
information about the radiation behaviour of the specimen. Furthermore, local high sound emission can be determined.
