Steering Test Benches

The servo steering mechanism is becoming more and more important since demands have increased significantly for example in the area of compact vehicles. The steering system of the vehicle has become one of the most important interfaces between the driver and the vehicle and safety and comfort aspects increasingly need to be considered.

Steering Test Bench

Special test benches are essential as it is especially difficult to test the concept parameters of the steering system in the overall vehicle.

Therefore GIF has developed functionality and NVH test benches for gear rack-steering systems and single components. Steering systems and single components can be installed coordinate by the original suspension points in order to measure parameters such as dynamic pinion torque, steering stiffness, efficiency, valve characteristics, pump pressure, rate of flow, aligning force etc. Additionally, steering cycles (defined through steering angle), steering speed, counterforce, pump rpm etc can be provided up to fully automatic track simulation. The climate chamber allows the performance of tests at extreme low temperatures.
